- I have recently installed Borland 5.0 on machines both at work and at
- home and my experiences to date have been as follows.
- I had very little problem installing the compiler at work
- (a P-90 w\16M ram). I did however, end up with a curious error
- message at startup complaining about problems with 'RWADDON.DLL'. I
- called Borland and found the the solution was merely to run a specific
- executable with a '-r' switch from the command line. Sorry to all
- those with a similar problem.. I've forgotten the name of the
- executable.. just call Borland. (45 minutes on hold for a 45 second
- solution). I'll try to post the name tomorrow.
- Unfortunately, I'm working on a very large project, and I've been
- forced to spend a huge amount of time changing 'BOOL's to
- 'bool's. Very annoying.
- At home, I have a problem. For some reason, The Installation that
- I've completed has NO way to access the Resource Workshop. I
- understand that the workshop is intigrated with the IDE now, but
- I can't find a way to activate the damn thing. I checked the
- help files, and they appear to be relavent to the new version, but none
- of the methods that they point out for starting a resource session
- seem to work.
- 1) click on the '.RC' file from the project window.
- - No dice - "No default viewer assigned to it's speed menu"
- - Question - How do you assign a default viewer
- that is integrated with the IDE?!!
- 2) open a resource using FILE|NEW|RESOURCE
- - No RESOURCE option exists under FILE|NEW
- 3) Right click on the '.EXE' file from the project window and choose
- resource option from the speed menu.
- - The Speed menu contains no options relating to Resources.
- 4) (I forget the fourth option.. but it didn't work. :)
-
- Due to space limitations, I've been forced to use the CD-only
- installation option. Is this the Problem? (I've used B4.52 for months
- from the CD without this hassle)
- I would appreciate any assistance.
- Thank you.
